When the Supreme Court decides the fate of the Obama administration’s health care law, it may end up having the most expensive Obamacare ad ever produced.
According to the Washington Post, the “Obamacare” spot was intended as a “powerful statement of America’s values,” but has “run into serious problems” from producers and marketers.
“The problem is that the ad is misleading,” Scott Saul, CEO of Production Company, told the Post. “It doesn’t make any sense to ask someone who has an illness to pay for it.”
Producers of the advertisement claim that it has a simple message, but are struggling with the amount of money and talent involved.
But “Obamacare” has a much larger, more complex message. The “Obamacare” ad is not just about health care reform, but about the idea of big government, federal control of health care, and the idea that if you’re born in America you should pay for health care.
But when a lot of people were told that, they would think of their parents’ health care, and wonder how it is that the federal government could force them to pay more.
It is also a simple message, but it has a lot of flaws.
For one, “Obamacare” doesn’t even accurately portray the law.
While many Republicans had promised the Affordable Care Act would “free-enjoy” health care, the actual law gives Americans health plans that cost the same whether you’re getting coverage or not.
The ad also claims Obamacare gives “hundreds of millions of dollars” to the government but it actually pays only about one-quarter of the total amount.
