Saffron rice is one of many health food products touted for their cancer protective ability. But as we all know, this claim is unfounded.

We need to realize, before trying any supplement products that are claims of a cure for anything, that most of those claims are not valid. If there’s something that you think has a chance of curing it, try this method instead. Use the same rice as you normally would for your normal rice recipe (with added sugar) and taste it once. You will notice that the flavor of the rice changed. Taste it at least thrice more. Now add a teaspoon or two of powdered sugar. Just watch the rice after a few minutes and you will notice that the rice tastes like rice.

So now, the question now is, is it safe to eat in rice? Of course it is. The question is, can you eat it? To answer those, let’s try our test at home.

What are some of the ingredients in your saffron rice recipe?

Saffron rice is made up of five different ingredients —

Saffron,

Sugar,

Sodium Chloride,

Salt, and

Water.


What exactly are these ingredients?

Sugar is used as food coloring to increase its sweetness. Salt is added as a salty seasoning to make rice taste salty. Chloride is used as a preservative. We also add a drop of Vitamin B3 each rice meal to prevent Vitamin B12 deficiency.

Each ingredient may be added in small amounts, or by weight. For instance, one serving of rice requires a pound of sugar, one serving of sugar requires a pound of salt, one serving of sugar requires a pound of sodium chloride, one serving of salt requires a pound of salt, … so the quantity you add will vary with the actual rice recipe being used.
