Praise be to Allaah.
The following are general points about the issue of “sowing and harvest” in Islam:
1 – Whether or not harvesting a fruit, whether a vegetable, a plant or a crop involves the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), the land or other people.
This issue is related to a specific verse of the Qur’aan and a specific ruling over the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) so if it is known whether or not you harvest a fruit, vegetables or crop in Islam you should ask the correct scholars who have clarified the ruling.
2 – What is the ruling on the type of fruit in which it is sown and whether you should harvest it?
The type of fruit in which it is sown or planted is a subject that is related to a specific ruling in Islam and you should ask the scholars who have elaborated on this issue and have clarified their position.
3 – Whether harvesting one seed or a number of seeds is permissible in Islam. Is it permissible for a man to sow a seed on the basis of alms, or is this not allowed?
As per the view of the majority of scholars it is permissible to sow a seed with a small amount on the basis of alms.
Another view is that it is not permissible, depending on the type of seed being sown, or on the circumstances of harvesting the crop.
The point is that the sowers of seed must be righteous and sincere and do not profit from the crops they sow, as they are not responsible and it is not permissible for them to take part in the harvesting of the crop. This includes any number of farmers from the same community and the harvest of the crops, whether the harvest includes the individual seeds or the number of seeds.
