It depends what you want to learn. If you love music, or playing a particular instrument, you can learn it in a few days, no problem. If you’re just thinking about taking your first steps into a profession that requires an extra level of proficiency, you can invest two– or even three– weeks into it.
It’s still possible to progress slowly, in the right direction, into violin, as long as you have the determination, focus, and support to make sure you never stray too far from the path. Here are some of our tips and tricks in setting you up with a solid foundation.

For all the drama we’ve seen over the course of this past summer, it’s worth taking some time to appreciate the best of it. We have seen two great baseball seasons, two great college basketball seasons, a great baseball season for two great college basketball teams, a great college basketball season for two great college football teams, two great college football seasons for two great college baseball teams, two great college basketball seasons for two great college football teams, two great college football seasons for two great NBA teams, five great college football seasons and seven great NBA seasons in the same span of time.
With all that in mind, and given the fact the current season has come under a bit of scrutiny from many corners, I asked each of the 10 schools on this list to look back on their best seasons ever, starting today.
Here are their answers:
Arizona Wildcats: 1969-70, 1973-74
As was noted above, the Wildcats have had their share of great seasons, but for those who prefer watching and talking about the best in the game, that’s what we’ll be looking for this season.
After going 9-4 in conference play and reaching the NCAA Tournament in both 1969 and 1973, the Wildcats made the NCAA Final Four in 1974, fell to Kentucky in the NIT in 1974 and didn’t make the NCAAs in 1975, but they also went 9-2 and reached the Sweet 16 in 1975.
This was the Wildcats’ only NIT appearance since 1976-77 (the first year Arizona played in the Big East Conference). The Wildcats finished their winningest season in program history at 29-7, reaching the Sweet 16 in the NCAAs during that stretch.
