To receive a financial aid offer from the USSA, students must meet the following criteria:

The student must be enrolled in a four-year university or community college in the United States.

In order to apply to the USSA, the student must submit the application online or by fax through a U.S. Post Office.

In order to enroll in the program, each student must meet the following three criteria.

Must be on a path of high academic achievement.

Must be accepted to or accepted to a state-recognized four-year college, university or community college.

Must be considered under financial need.

To be considered under financial need, a student must demonstrate:

A cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or greater on a four-year college or university or community college’s final level exam (3.0-3.5 on the AP and IB).

A 4.0 GPA on a 2.5 or greater college or university or community college final level exam (3.0-3.5).

A 3.0 or greater cumulative GPA on an AP or IB, in the same course(s) as a college or university or community college graduate (if accepted for admission) in the three quarters immediately prior to the student’s college or university or community college final exam; or

A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater on the final level exam on which a student took the final grade to be a “B.”

A 3.0 cumulative GPA, in the same course(s), as a graduate of any college/university or community college in the United States or a related institution that’s a member of an accredited regional accrediting association.

In order to enroll in the USSA, students must complete a financial aid application, a financial aid essay or submit the USSA application and test scores in order to be considered under financial need.

I earned a high school diploma or GED. How can I earn financial aid?

All states and many foreign countries have a process for awarding federal grants to students who earned a high school diploma, GED or certificate. To receive a grant, students must have a GPA of 2.3 or higher on a two- or four-year college, university or community college final level exam, respectively.
