How do I get free government money? – Federal Government Grants Help Commission Officer

You can ask any government agency to give you money. Most will grant you their money at the same time as they award you their grant. This is called a subsidy. You can spend the subsidy within the time limit as long as the money you spend is spent within two months of the grant.

So if your household can not get an application accepted but you can use a subsidy, your household should be able to work more hours.

If your household can not get an application accepted at all but you can use a subsidy, your household should be eligible for another award, such as a grant to the cost of your first child, from your local authority. This grant is sometimes called a subsidy for first time parents. You can use a subsidy any time after your first child. You should check with your local authority the latest information about the grants they apply for and decide what can be done about your household to make sure your household can work for your child’s benefit if that is what is best for your child.

If you’re the sole parent, you can use a subsidy only if you have a child under 8, that is:

you do not have two dependent children

you do not have your child living with you or another person for a period of at least 12 months

You can apply for a subsidy to cover the costs of the first child for up to two years after the birth of your child if the parent does not have another child, in all cases: you cannot use your first pregnancy or childbirth subsidy for a child under 3.

If you have another child, the local authority can accept a subsidy for up to two years after the birth. You cannot use your other pregnancy allowance or your other child allowance to pay for a subsidy.

More important information:

You can claim an award if your children are dependent on you and if they have been under five in the last 24 months.

It does not matter how you used your child allowance in the last 12 months or whether you used a subsidy or another award, only the amount of your last child allowance or child allowance benefit claim is relevant to your entitlement.

You should not apply for a subsidy:

when one of your children is under three months old or

when you have a child born out of wedlock

If you can’t apply for a subsidy and you can use another award, you should start claiming your child-related housing benefit from the end of the month you claim the subsidy
